Destination Wedding Beauty Planning

Does having a destination wedding mean that my hair and makeup are destined for disaster?

Not even a little bit. A pre-wedding consultation is essential to your beauty and peace of mind on your all-important day no matter where you are getting married.  Start by talking to the resort for your wedding. Ask them if they have a wedding package that includes hair and makeup. Check out other salon options near to your venue.  Once you have chosen your beauty team, you are ready to share ideas.  I like to remind brides that the makeup and hair stylists in venues for weddings are especially prepared and experienced for brides and bridal parties.

Before you arrive to your destination you can use social media to help you share your hair and makeup ideas with your stylist. Just as an example, you could make a Pinterest board to find makeup looks and hairstyles that you think might look good on you.  Ideally you’ll arrive to your resort a few days in advance of your wedding. This is the perfect time to schedule your pre-consultation makeup and hair trials so there wouldn’t be any surprises on your special day.

If you have an exact look in your mind of exactly how you want your hair or makeup, I would suggest bringing in a picture of yourself like that. You could also bring in your own makeup to ensure the color choices are the ones your want. But, think about many bridal parties for hair and makeup that resort stylists do a day. They are typically very talented and skilled.
